Schools Are Us at the DOE headquarters

_Schools Are Us_ at the DOE headquarters

On April 10th, 2014, Teachers Unite and CUP staff presented Schools Are Us, our new Making Policy Public poster, at a Chancellor’s Parent Advisory Council (CPAC) meeting at the Historic Tweed Courthouse, the Department of Education headquarters. The poster was given to representatives from Presidents’ Councils (which are made up of PTA presidents) from all over the city. "This," said Rob Bowen, a longtime educational activist, "is the guide for parents to demystify the governance structure of the DOE... it's the largest school district in the U.S but for a parent to interact with and understand the governance structure [of the DOE] they need easy access. This is that entry point... this poster is it!"

Schools Are Us was a collaboration between CUP staff, Teachers Unite and designer Silas Munro.
