Special call for NYC advocates + organizers

Special call for NYC advocates + organizers

Hey NYC-based community organizations! Is a complex policy issue getting in the way of reaching your constituents? Apply to Public Access Design!

We’re looking for community + advocacy organizations that are working to address policy issues that would benefit from a visual explanation, and where the lack of understanding of that issue is leading to social injustice. Together, we’ll collaborate with designers to create a pocket-sized visual tool that meets your organizing needs!

Public Access Design projects are concise in scope, cover urgent topics, and take around 4-5 months to create. Community/advocacy organizations receive 1,000 free printed copies of the project they help create and a PDF to distribute virtually.

We also recognize that as pandemic continues to impact every aspect of daily life––including our homes, our jobs, our schools, and so much more––marginalized communities continue to be hit the hardest. That’s why at CUP we’re dedicating more of our efforts to supporting those who are fighting for a safer and more equitable city for those most affected by the pandemic.

This spring, we’re dedicating one of the next two Public Access Design projects to topics related to COVID-19. If you are an advocate or organizer working on a policy or system that has been impacted or exacerbated by COVID-19, we want to work with you.

Applications are due by April 14th at 5PM EST. Click here to learn more and apply!

If you want to apply, but submitting an application sounds like too much of a hurdle right now, schedule a call with CUP. We’ll talk through your proposed project topic and put it in a format that our jury can easily review along with applications submitted online. Please email sucharitha@welcometocup.org to set up a phone call.

This open call is supported in part by The Tecovas Foundation
